Madelyne Trejo is Misericordia’s new Vice President of Clinical Services.  She comes to us with a wealth of education and rich experience.  Madelyne has a Master’s Degree in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, is a registered nurse, and most recently completed the NEA-BC certification (Nurse Executive Advanced Certified-Board Certified).  The majority of her career has been in nursing leadership and management. While she has held positions at North Shore Health System’s Skokie and Glenbrook hospitals, Madelyne was most recently at Swedish Covenant Hospital as the Associate Vice President of Nursing, Perioperative, GI, and Anesthesia departments.   Madelyne is a Chicago native and shared that her favorite thing to do in Chicago is to eat! (She is already a Misericordia Bakery fan.)  She is married and has 2 sons and 1 daughter.

Madelyne has been with us for about a month and is busy becoming familiar with all the departments, teams and layers that make up the complex system that is Misericordia.  As Father Jack described in his announcement to families in December, “Madelyne will be very busy for several months learning about Misericordia, our culture, mission and values and of course the residents, the staff, her departments and families. She will oversee all of nursing, physicians and nurse practitioners, therapy, dental office, dieticians, and provider clinics.”

Madelyne sees her organizational strengths as building teams and unifying people.  One of her priorities is to support a positive, safe environment that allows people to grow in their positions. Her leadership style aims to empower those who report to her, as well as help them grow and become more independent. As she becomes familiar with the areas she oversees, she brings a skill set and expertise that will support and enhance the processes and care those departments give our family members.  Just as importantly, Madelyne’s vision includes formalizing the structures of departments while supporting a climate of mutual support, opportunity for growth, and an atmosphere of openness and safety.  Structuring up a set succession plan for staff within departments and a formal process for education are also some of her priorities.

Madelyne is excited to have become a part of Misericordia and we are fortunate to have her join our family.  As we know, there are so many different roles, responsibilities and moving parts at Misericordia that becoming familiar with all of them is a significant task!  Please welcome her as she begins this important role in the evolving life of Misericordia.
