Social Services would like to follow up with a reminder that we are still collecting information on outside dentists who can work with the special needs population. The Misericordia Dental Clinic can currently accommodate only one annual cleaning for current residents, and there is a waiting list for all new admissions this year. If you work with a dentist you trust, who serves your family member well, we would greatly appreciate it if you could share that information with Social Services. We can then provide referrals to Misericordia families who need additional dental visits for their loved ones.
Please include the following details:

Misericordia Home is committed to providing our residents with the best care possible to ensure their continued health and well-being. Some families choose to supplement the care provided by Misericordia by arranging additional physical training or therapy sessions beyond those that Misericordia is currently able to offer, such as one-on-one personal training, behavioral therapy, physical/occupational therapy, and massage therapy. Effective May 1st, Misericordia has implemented a new process for the approval of these services that take place on Misericordia property.
In order to have an outside therapist or trainer approved to provide services on Misericordia property, families/guardians must notify the resident’s QIDP of their intent to arrange private services. Required consent forms signed by the outside provider and the guardian must be submitted to the resident’s QIDP along with a copy of the outside provider’s license and proof of liability insurance. Residential directors will review the submitted paperwork, and they will notify the guardian whether the provider is approved to provide services at Misericordia. If approved, the guardian should coordinate scheduling sessions with the resident’s QIDP.
This new process applies to both current providers and new providers, and this topic will be added to the resident’s annual staffing. If there are any questions on this new process, please contact the area Vice President or Assistant Vice President.

Misericordia is home to a beautiful 37-acre campus—one that is meant to be enjoyed, appreciated, and celebrated. Click the link below for the latest edition of our Misericordia Gardens Tour Guide, which highlights the many gardens and green spaces across campus that are cared for by residents, staff, families, and volunteers.
These gardens are more than just beautiful spaces. They serve as meaningful learning and vocational opportunities for many of our residents. Through horticulture activities such as planting seeds, watering plants, maintaining gardens, harvesting vegetables, arranging flowers, and caring for greenhouse plants, residents develop vocational, social, and life skills while contributing to the beauty of our community.

Attention Southside Misericordia families!
The Misericordia Hearts and Flour Bakery will have a tent at both the Tinley Park and Beverly Farmers Markets this year! Both markets are looking for Misericordia families that would be interested in volunteering at our tent. This is a great way for people on the southside to support Misericordia without having to drive all the way up to our main campus!
Sign up for shifts at the Beverly market at this link, and for shifts at the Tinley Park farmers market at this link.
Please let friends and family know to stop by our booths and support us this season!

For those who were unable to join the Aging With Grace Workshop Series, videos of the 3 sessions are available on YouTube. Click the buttons below.
Part 2: Behavior, Emotional Wellness, and Meaningful Engagement

Misericordia's fourth State of the State for Employees took place on Wednesday, April 15. Multiple sessions were offered to ensure employees across all shifts had an opportunity to participate. The employees heard from Fr. Jack and some of the senior leaders about the projects underway to help employees and the organization work smarter, not harder.
