Coming Soon - Volunteer Drivers Needed!
To ensure the safety of residents on medical appointments after receiving pre-appointment sedation, Misericordia must have two people attend with the resident – one who can drive the vehicle and one who can be with the resident and monitor for possible adverse reactions due to the sedation. Misericordia has always partnered with families when it comes to outside medical appointments and is grateful for all that families do to assist in getting their loved one to and from. Being a volunteer driver will allow you to help a family that may not be able to independently drive their loved one to an appointment for various reasons.
It’s simple – you’re the chauffeur, and they are your passengers. There are also times when Misericordia staff, often times paid off the clock by families, are taking someone to an appointment. By having a volunteer driver, there will not be a need to send two staff on the appointment. Again, you’re the chauffeur, and they’re your passengers. As a volunteer driver, you would never be solely responsible for the resident you are with – leave that to the family or staff! Stay tuned for more information regarding this extremely helpful way to get involved.
