MFA Chair's Corner - October 2021

Pam and Jim Capraro

Misericordia Family Association Members,

We hope this finds you and your families well. As we mentioned at our most recent board meeting, it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as your MFA chairs. We stand on the shoulders of the many capable leaders who have gone before us, most recently, Laurie and Bill McCarthy, who ushered us into the world of video communication as the pandemic upset our normal way of operating.

It is almost hard to believe we are beginning our third year of virtual meetings. Certainly, the pandemic has changed how we have done almost everything in our day to day lives. Fortunately, one thing that has not changed, is the excellent care provided to our family members by the staff at Misericordia. They are hardworking, unfailing and creative in their efforts to provide a safe and nurturing environment for those we hold so dear.

The pandemic has also resulted in our finding new ways to support Misericordia and maintain our connections with each other. Video calls, unheard of and unused by most of us until eighteen months ago, are now commonplace among families, friends and businesses as a way of working together and maintaining social contact. They solve for distance by allowing us to come together regardless of how remote we might be.

Starting soon, the Misericordia Family Association Site Representatives will convene video call conversations by gathering the families from each Misericordia residence. We are anticipating that these calls happen at least once per quarter.

There are three goals for these video calls:

  1. To maintain and deepen relationships among our Misericordia Family Association members.
  2. To aid in the timely distribution of information specific to each Misericordia residence.
  3. To provide each residence a family forum where Misericordia Families can develop ways to support Misericordia’s core values (as mentioned in the Community of Believers Document): Quality of Life, Responsibility, Connectedness, Spirituality and Diversity & Inclusion.

For your convenience,  a listing of MFA Site Representatives appears below. Soon we will send a table of email addresses for the full MFA Board.
