From book clubs to science experiments, the LITerature Lounge in #Misericordia Developmental Training Program is ready! An Open House was recently held to introduce the multipurpose space. Residents had a wonderful time looking through the books and hanging out in such a cool room.
The houses continue to be spruced up. Outside, small decorations are being put up for Spring. Inside, living rooms and dens are being measured for new carpets.
We celebrated S. Rosemary’s birthday last month with a wonderful dinner and cake.In honor of her birthday the residents donated $86 to her First Giving page!

Misericordia is involved in an effort to change federal law and regulations so that they recognize the individual’s right to choose where to live and spend his or her days.
Government action on disabilities issues is shifting to Washington DC. As you know, the House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act which would cap the federal share of Medicaid funding and have a very detrimental effect on individuals with disabilities across the nation.
Last Friday, the Plaintiffs and Intervenors filed a joint motion in federal court asking the Court to find that Illinois has failed to comply with the Ligas Consent Decree.
Earlier this week, the Republican leadership of the House of Representatives revealed its plan for the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Included in the plan is a proposal to significantly change the federal government’s role in funding Medicaid.
