During this Thanksgiving Season we thought it would be good to remember and be thankful for our Misericordia blessings. Of Course for Misericordia families, we are most appreciative of the Q's, DSP's, nurses, therapists, DT staff, and site administrators that provide a wonderful "high touch" service for our family members on a daily basis.

Over this Holiday we are remembering articles that appeared in our weekly Sunday MFA-SIBS E-Newsletter over the years that highlighted special recognition that was bestowed upon members of our staff leadership team. Here's some of those announcements that we've had the pleasure of publishing. You will remember just how proud and thankful we were on each and every one of these occasions, which give witness to the fact that Misericoridia's leadership excels in every possible way. Families who are new to Misericordia may enjoy our recollection of these past events so that they may learn why Misericordia so wonderful.

Read on and as you recall these announcements you will remember just how blessed we truly are:

2014, Re-dedication of the Courtyard Inn as the Lois Gates Courtyard
From Sister Rosemary and the Misericordia Executive Team:

It is my pleasure to share the name change of our Courtyard Inn.

This change is in honor of Lois Gates’ forty-three years of dedicated, generous, and loving service to all involved at Misericordia – those who walk this journey inside of Misericordia and those outside, such as our many groups and volunteers.  From here forward, the Courtyard Inn will be called The Lois Gates Courtyard.  A new plaque on a Courtyard wall will reflect this change.

Congratulations, Lois!  No one is more deserving for all you are and do for so many at Misericordia.  We are so very blessed to claim you as our own.

Maria Rivera, 2010 American Network of Community options and Resources (ANCOR) Illinois Direct Service Provider (DSP) of the year

Maria Rivera (Misericordia) has encyclopedic knowledge of personal history; medical, behavioral and emotional issues; and the likes and dislikes of 100 people served. Scheduling activities, parties and trips to the swimming pools are routine for Maria. She’s amazingly insightful and highly adaptable. To accommodate those with hearing impairments, she took it upon herself to learn sign language and set up discussion groups. If anyone’s holiday plans fall through, they’ll end up at Maria’s house for a festive family celebration. No one gets left behind on Maria’s watch.
