It’s been a busy couple of months in the Village!

In November, each house celebrated a traditional Thanksgiving dinner prepared by their wonderful DSP’s and managers. Residents who stayed over the Thanksgiving Holiday shared another lovely meal made by the DSPs on staff that day. A HUGE Thank You to all those who gave up time with their families that weekend to share time with our residents!!!

December was a whirlwind of activity. There was a Christmas concert in the gym on the 3rd for all the residents. Village residents were excited to visit Quinlan Terrace for their cookie decorating and craft events as well. Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas time in the Village without the annual holiday parties at each house! The residents were wonderful hosts and hostesses to all their family and friends who came to celebrate on those days. They proudly showed off their holiday spirit with all the wonderful decorations at each home.

Looking forward to the new year, residents will be treated to a couple of new programs they may wish to become involved with. Misericordia’s very own Garden Expert, Bobby, will be assisting homes with group projects such as recycled and reusable crafts and cooking with ingredients they’ve grown in the Amina Grace and Greco Gardens. He’ll also work with home throughout the year on incorporating changes in the seasons and upcoming holidays.

We are also very excited to welcome student volunteers from Loyola. They will be visiting several homes in February for 8 weeks. Their activities will welcoming/ greeting the residents as they return home; dinning together; and leading a spiritual/community-building activity. This is an exciting and new experience we are hoping to continue it in the future if all goes well.
