Heart of Mercy Ball: A Virtual and Literal Success!

The 38th annual Heart of Mercy Ball was held on October 14, 2020.  To keep the Ball rolling, the Misericordia Women’s Board seamlessly shifted to a virtual event.  The evening was a great success, exceeding expectations.  The Women’s Board raised over $1 million, and donations are still coming in.
Unlike some other Misericordia volunteer organizations, most of the Women’s Board members do not have family members living at Misericordia.  Rather, this dedicated group of women are dedicated to the mission of Misericordia and are inspired by Sister Rosemary.
Jackie Kissane and Susan Baker were co-chairs of this year’s Ball.  They and their team produced an elegant, fun and inspired event.  Every year, the Women’s Board honors an individual who has supported Misericordia and exemplifies its spirit.  This year, the Women’s Board honored the remarkable and dedicated staff who have taken such good care of the residents throughout the pandemic.  How appropriate that these heroes received this recognition.
The virtual Ball featured thank you shout outs to the Misericordia staff from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern football coach), Miguel (former Hamilton star) & Kelly Cervantes, Today Show hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush, Mike Singletary (former Chicago Bear) and actor Joe Mantegna, among others.
The Misericordia Women’s Board is grateful to its sponsors, the Heart to Hand and auction donors and bidders whose generosity and support made the event such a huge success.
