November and December were busy, happy days for the residents of McGowan. In November, their daily activities included discussions on wellness, virtual tours of Chicago and the US, and cultural appreciation lessons that included art and cooking. Scheduled Zoom sessions kept them connected to Misericordia, including OT and PT therapies, yoga, and sing a longs. For Thanksgiving the residents were asked “What are you grateful for?" and family, friends, staff, iPads and food were the most popular answers!

In December, in addition to all their regular programming, the residents enjoyed the holidays. Banners were made and proudly displayed at the Santa Parade. Also for Christmas, a live virtual tour of the Christmas Trees at the Museum of Science and Industry was enjoyed. For Hanukkah homemade latkes and applesauce were made and enjoyed. And an art piece was made to celebrate unity, the first principle of Kwanza.
