The Shannon Apartments have been full of activity over the past two months. Residents celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, Passover, Easter, Cinco de Mayo and took part in Spring and Candy Days parades. A special dinner was held for Sister Paulette to celebrate her 70th Anniversary.

Congratulations and a heartfelt thank you to Sister for all the loving care and support she has given over the years to our loved ones. Residents came together to create a special art project to thank Nurse Sydney on Nurse’s Day. We are all grateful for Syndey’s gentle care and expertise in keeping all the Shannon residents safe and healthy this past year.

The months of April and May brought new friends to Shannon. A Big Welcome Kelsey, Tim, Michael and their loved ones to the Shannon Apartments Family. We are all happy you’re here and look forward to meeting you soon.

There are signs at Shannon that things are beginning to move towards normal with the return of pool and fitness center activities for fun and exercise. Just last week communal dinning resumed on Sunday, Wednesday and special occasions.

New outdoor projects and fun have begun as well. Residents have enjoyed planting the spring garden, composting, making bird feeders and hanging them outside, shooting hoops on the campus basketball court, and starting community walks at a nearby nature preserve.

Shannon Apartments was the first area to go live with a new software program called Awards. The program will assist staff in maintaining residents’ records for assessments, goals, medical records, etc. electronically rather than by paper. Shannon’s staff was chosen be trained first and work out any kinks before the rest of Misericordia switches over to the program.

Way to go Shannon Staff - You’re the Best!
