New Garden Walk on Campus! 

Misericordia is blessed to have over 37 acres of beautiful land that our residents, families and staff enjoy. Through the Day Services program, Sharon Metzger and our residents have designed a Garden Walk Brochure for families, staff and residents to enjoy. Over the past few years, our residents have really taken ownership of various gardens on campus. The next time you are on campus, please take the tour to see all of the residents' hard work and enjoy the scenery.

We Love Our Staff! 

During July, Misericordia is recognizing the hard work and dedication of the “QIDPs” or better known as the “Qs”. There will be an Appreciation Event on July 12th, which will include a catered luncheon, staff gifts and raffles.

Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDPs) oversee the needs of the residents, including their programs, goals, medical/dental needs, community outings and nearly all facets of daily life. QIDPs work closely with Supervisors, DSPs (Direct Service Providers) and parents/guardians to ensure quality care and programming for all residents. The House Managers and Environmental Coordinators are also instrumental in providing for the needs of the residents. 

Please send an email or written note of thanks and appreciation directly to your residents’ Qs/House Managers/Environmental Coordinators during the month of July.

But first, please remember to:

• Fill in the names and meal choices for all of your guests and, if possible, do not leave them unassigned!
• Include email addresses and phone numbers for your guests, if you have them.
• If you only provide a name, you must select their meal choice.
• If you do provide email/phone, GiveSmart will contact them to allow them to make their own meal choice.
• If you don’t know who your guests are when you buy your tickets, you can assign them later, but please do asap.
• If you need help with any of this, please contact the Reservations Chairs below.

You can also:

• Invite friends and family (who will be purchasing their own tickets) with the MFA Benefit Invitation Flyer (click here) or an Invitation Card/envelope which are available in the bin at Thome Reception.
• Be sure to fill in your Group name (last name, first name) and MFA# on the invitations before sending them out.
• Your guests will need to use this info when they make their reservations to make sure they are seated with your party and that you will receive credit for their donations.

COVID Update

With the updated guidance from IDPH, Covid-19 vaccinations are no longer mandatory. Staying up to date with required vaccines and boosters is, however, highly recommended as a component of infection prevention. With this in mind, effective June 1, 2023, Misericordia will no longer mandate employees and volunteers to be up to date with Covid-19 vaccinations and boosters. Please do consider maintaining your status.

Well-fitted masks are required of all employees and visitors in McAuley. All other areas on campus will be mask optional unless the risk is high, based on:        

• Covid-19 activity within a specific cohort
• Covid-19 activity within the extended Misericordia Community, and
• CDC assessment of Covid-19 Hospitalizations

We Love Our Staff!

During June, Misericordia is recognizing the following departments, and there will be an Appreciation Luncheon on June 20th for these employees, with gifts and raffles:  

• Information Technology (IT)supports Misericordia staff with their computer and network needs. In addition to day-to-day computer support, IT has completed a campus wide Wi-Fi and the resident care system (AWARDS).

• Purchasing & Receivingorder supplies for the campus, including diapers, wipes, cleaning, office and PPE supplies, which they deliver to all residential and administrative departments. They also handle deliveries to campus. 

• The Business Officesupports Misericordia by conducting all financial transactions/needs of the campus, including oversight of the residents’ personal funds; billing the state to receive program funding; payment of expenses incurred by the Home; oversight and cash disbursement to support staff/resident needs on outings, activities, etc.; and cash management of fundraising funds.

• Development/PR/Volunteer Officecontinues to raise awareness and funds for Misericordia Home. Under the leadership of Lois Gates, these departments work with the fundraising groups and volunteers to support Misericordia. Paul Schwartz is the Misericordia Volunteer Coordinator.
