Dear Families and Staff,
I wanted to take a moment to update all of you on our MFA meeting that took place yesterday in the gym. It was a wonderful gathering. Thanks to all who made the effort to be with us. A special thanks to CDS and DT administration and staff under the direction of Tina Stendardo. It was also a wonderful presentation and open house.
As we talked about our life here at Misericordia, we expressed our number one concern being our staff. We know that we need many more staff to alleviate the pressure on the wonderful folks who are taking care of our residents. We are a product of the current time in our history and all that post-Covid means, but we also know we must move past this and as quickly as possible. There is an urgent need for us to get more staff.
We have asked HR and the Board of Directors to really work hard to advance our efforts. We will do all we possibly can to get and retain our hard-working staff. The HR Staff and the Board have responded and are working at other ways for us to reach out. Many things are being planned. Our Vice Presidents are working with their staff to work on retention and support of our current staff. All supervisors are attending monthly training so that they can better serve the staff. That is the reason they are here.
Misericordia has always come together to meet whatever challenges we face. We will do it again. I have no doubt in my mind that we will find the right people to assist all of those who are currently working so hard.
I am also proud to announce the following appointments. Scott Thompson will be the Vice President of Information Services. We are trying to upgrade so many things in technology – Resident information, Waiting list information, Scheduling of Staff, Bakery Ordering, etc., etc. John Tortorello is now the Vice President of Facilities. He will be with us overseeing with me all of our areas. Kevin Rahlfs will be replacing John as the Director of Maintenance. Fr. Bart Winters will continue to work with Fr. Bob Myers with Staff reflection and support. He will serve as Vice President of Mission. Bill Clucas, who comes to us from being the Captain at our local Police District, will serve as Vice President for Safety and Security. I welcome them as they assist us in having good lives here at Misericordia.
Thanks to all of you. Together we make a difference!
Fr. Jack
