A Message from Father JackFr.Jack Clair

Dear Families and Staff,

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was nice but different this year without my sister. Thanks to all who prepared the celebrations for our residents who did not go home. Thanks also to all of the volunteers who came to help with the brunch on Thanksgiving morning. A special thanks to all of the staff who gave up family time to be here with our residents.

Shopping and meals continue as part of our fundraising efforts for the holidays. Thanks to Judy and Nancy in the gift shops and to all volunteers who got everything ready and worked at every event. We welcomed our Women’s Auxiliary, the Women’s Board for lunch and the Illinois Catholic Women’s group – great shoppers one and all. Special thanks to the Kitchen and Bakery staffs, to Housekeeping, Maintenance and all who helped to make these events happen.

The Christmas Brunches welcome thousands of guests and volunteers to Misericordia. These people all believe in us and want to help us create good lives for our residents. Thanks to these same staff groups who also work so hard for the brunches.

This week we will welcome our Women’s League, our Boards and our major donors for meetings and events.

Special thanks to Misericordia sibling Joe Higgins who got us involved in a study at Harvard University. This was all about employing people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Misericordia joined in this study with Walgreens and the Chicago Cubs. Special thanks to our staff member Julie O’Sullivan who represented us at this project.

Sunday afternoon I was invited to meet with Congressman Sean Casten and discuss our concerns at and for Misericordia. Thanks to our families who continue to reach out to our elected officials.

In these busy times,  let’s all try and stop to say a prayer for one another – I know I can really use them.

Thanks,
Fr. Jack
